Day 1: Fez โ Ifrane โ Midelt โ Erfoud โ Rissani โ Merzouga โ Erg Chebbi
Departure is from your hotel, riad, or the airport in Fez. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains and cedar forests toward Midelt. Stop in Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture, and in Azrou, a regional craft center famous for cedar woodwork. Along the way, enjoy scenic viewpoints and observe Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
After crossing the Zad Pass (2,178 m / 7,146 ft), stop in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, descend toward Erfoud and Errachidia through the Ziz Valley, lined with palm groves and traditional ksour. Continue to Merzouga, where youโll switch to a 4WD vehicle for an off-road journey to the desert camp in Erg Chebbi.
Upon arrival, enjoy traditional Moroccan tea before beginning your camel trekโone person per camelโacross the golden dunes. Ride for about two hours, perfectly timed to catch the sunset. In the evening, enjoy dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and a peaceful night in a private Bedouin-style tent beneath a vast, star-filled sky.
